Getting Started
Welcome to Thriftaholic! Here's how to get started:
- Create an Account: Sign up with your email, or use Sign in with Apple or Google for a faster setup.
- Enable Location: Allow location access so we can show you stores and posts near you.
- Browse the Map: See thrift stores in your area and what the community has been finding there.
- Start Posting: Found something great? Take a photo, add details, and share it with the community.
- Build Your Wishlist: Save items and stores you love — we'll notify you when similar finds pop up.
Posting Finds
Sharing your thrift finds is easy:
- Take a Photo: Tap the camera icon and photograph the item clearly.
- Add Details: Include the item name, category, price you spotted, and the store where you found it.
- Select the Store: Search for the store on the map or use your current location to find nearby stores.
- Post: Tap "Post" to share with the Thriftaholic community.
Note: Posts remain visible in the public feed and on store pages for 30 days. After that, they're only visible on your profile to keep content fresh and relevant.
AI Scanner
The AI Scanner helps you identify items and estimate their resale value:
- Open the Scanner: Tap the scanner icon in the app.
- Photograph the Item: Point your camera at the item and capture a clear photo.
- Review Results: The AI will identify the item and provide an estimated resale value based on current market data.
- Decide: Use the information to help decide whether the item is worth buying.
Important: Scanner results are estimates only, not professional appraisals. Always do your own research before making purchasing decisions. Free and Premium users have different daily scan limits as shown in the app.
Premium Subscription
Thriftaholic Premium gives you the best experience:
- Ad-Free: Browse without any advertisements.
- Early Access: See new posts before free users.
- Expanded Scanner: More daily AI scans to find the best deals.
- Exclusive Features: Access to features as we roll them out to Premium first.
Managing your subscription: Your Premium subscription is managed through Apple. To cancel, go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone. For refund requests, contact Apple Support or visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I see posts from more than 30 days ago?
Posts are automatically removed from the public feed and store pages after 30 days to keep content current. Items at thrift stores sell quickly, so we keep the feed fresh. Your own posts remain visible on your profile.
How accurate is the AI Scanner?
The Scanner uses advanced AI to provide estimates, but results can vary depending on the item, photo quality, and market conditions. It's a helpful guide — not a guarantee. Always verify values independently before buying or reselling.
Is my location data stored?
Your precise location is used to show nearby stores and posts, but we don't log or store a history of your location. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
Can I use the app without creating an account?
You can browse limited content as a guest. An account is required to post, like, save favorites, or access the full experience.
How do I cancel Premium?
Go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone and cancel Thriftaholic Premium. You'll keep Premium access until the end of the current billing period.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Email us at support@morobo.org with a description of what happened, what device you're using, and your iOS version. Screenshots are always helpful.
